Update: Road Reopened After Darien Transformer Explosion
A transformer exploded Wednesday morning and brought down power lines.
Update 9:40 p.m.: The road is reopened and utility work will be ongoing throughout the day, according to police.
Police are advising motorists to seek alternative routes around the intersection of Old Kings Highway South and Tokeneke Road and Tokeneke Road and the Post Road after a transformer explosion.
The explosion was accompanied by downed power lines, police said.
