Coginchaug Fall Sports Preview: Girls' Soccer

The Blue Devils have lost 12 seniors from their Shoreline Conference Championship winning team, but head coach Megan Kavanaugh is not ready to call this season a rebuilding year.

Coginchaug Fall Sports Preview: Girls' Soccer

Last season: 15-3-3 (, lost in  of Class M state tournament)

Season Opener: Sept. 11 vs. Cromwell, at Coginchaug High School at 3:45 p.m.

Coach Kavanaugh's Season Outlook: We'll be very young. It's a lot of teaching and learning this year, more than I had to do last year. Last year was a lot of tweaking. It was more tactical stuff. I have to teach things I haven't had to teach in three years.

I think they now have an idea that we're a program that is successful. Even a lot of the underclassmen who didn't get to play [last season] were at those games, so I'm hoping those expectations are still there. The freshman come in with a lot of skill, and I think they see that there are openings. I think it will make our practices more competitive.

Seniors: Jessica Solomon, Kaya Votto, Lauren Trombetta, Alison Doolittle and Lauren Giannini

Underclassmen to Watch: Victoria Buonanni, Zoe Stublarec
