Poll: Should Region 13 Partner with Positive Coaching Alliance?

School officials are considering implementing a new system of coaching established by the non-profit group.

Poll: Should Region 13 Partner with Positive Coaching Alliance?

Region 13 school officials are exploring the idea of partnering with Positive Coaching Alliance, a non-profit organization whose mission is "to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience."

The group provides training and workshops to coaches, parents and administrators and youth sports organizations.

"My only regret is that we haven't done it already," board member Nancy Boyle said during Wednesday night's Board of Education meeting. "I feel very strongly, as the parent of athletes, this is so important to the development of the children and it really fits in line with our Core Ethical Values."

The board has asked Superintendent Susan Viccaro to explore the group in greater detail, including the cost and possible benefits to the district.
