Will now face Murphy in November for U.S. Senate seat.

McMahon Wins Big in East Hampton and Portland

 

Linda McMahon was the big winner in East Hampton and Portland Tuesday in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.

In East Hampton, McMahon received 405 votes to 71 for Christopher Shays. McMahon was equally dominant in Portland, winning 252 to 56.

McMahon easily went on to win her party's nomination. With 76 percent of the precincts reporting she had 76 percent of the vote, according to The Hartford Courant.

On the Democratic side, Chris Murphy had 326 votes to Susan Bysiewicz's 196 in East Hampton. In Portland, Murphy had a 229 to 141 edge. Those margins were indicative of Murphy's success in the state, which he won easily. With 77 percent of the precincts reporting, he had 66 percent of the vote, according to The Hartford Courant.

In the Second Congressional District, Paul Formica, the First Selectman in East Lyme, defeated Daria Novak according to The Courant. Formica won East Hampton, 295-157.

Jim Crawford won the Democratic primary in the 33rd State Senate District, defeating Mary Ellen Klinck, 2,505-2,007. Crawford, of Westbrook, will now face Republican Art Linares, also of Westbrook, in November.
