Anand Dhawan, 44, 50 Goldfinch Road, Durham, was charged with a criminal violation of a protective order after he was taken into custody by the New Haven Police Department for an alleged violation of a court-ordered protective order on Jan. 6. Dhawan is accused of entering the home of a protected party earlier in the day. He was held on a $1,500 bond and was due in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 7.
Julia Sweet, 41, 97 Black Walnut Drive, Durham, was charged with operating under the influence, a risk of injury to a minor and a failure to carry a license after police said she was observed parked and in a running vehicle in the northbound travel lane of Haddam Quarter Road on Jan. 8. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Sweet was held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 16.
Daniel M. Williams, 39, and Gina Williams, 43, both of 74 Oak Terrace, Durham, were each charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault after police investigated a domestic violence incident at their home on Jan. 11. Police said both individuals sustained minor injuries. They were both held on $500 bonds and were due in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 13.
Ami Martin, of Haddam, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after she turned herself into police on Jan. 7 in connection to an incident that occurred in October. She was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 21.
Police responded to JD Food Mart at 1016 Killingworth Road in Haddam on Jan. 8 at 2:28 a.m. for a report of a non-active commercial burglary. The case is under investigation. There were no further details in the press release.
Police are investigating a domestic violence incident reported on Jan. 4 on Griswold Avenue in Old Lyme. The case is under investigation.
John R. Regan, 32, 1 Talcott Farm Road, Old Lyme, was charged with disorderly conduct after police responded to a report of an argument at his home on Jan. 4. Regan was held on a $1,500 bond and was scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Jan. 6.
Police responded on Jan. 4 to a report of suspected vandalism on Old Shore Road in Old Lyme. The complaint was later determined to be unfounded.
Police are investigating a report of a fraudulent Facebook account. Someone opened an account impersonating another person. The incident was filed from Coult Lane in Old Lyme on Jan. 7.
An investigation is being conducted regarding the possible violation of a restraining order and a protective order. The case was filed with police in Old Lyme on Jan. 11 in the area of Route 156.
Elizabeth J. Gordon, 20, 29 Baker Road, Chester, was cahrged with operating under the influence and a failure to maintain the proper lane after police said she was driving on I-95 in the area of Exit 70 on Jan. 11 when she veered off to the left side of the road, striking the concrete median. She was taken to Middlesex Shoreline Clinic as a precaution and later failed field sobriety tests. She was arrested at the clinic and held on a $500 non-surety bond. Gordon is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 23.
A person pulled over on I-95 near the Old Saybrook and Westbrook town lines was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Jan. 12. The contraband was seized and both parties in the car were issued infractions. Police did not name the people involved.
Police are investigating a complaint of $29,000 worth of jewelry stolen from a home on Crescent Street in Deep River. The complaint was lodged with the state police on Jan. 9 however the complainant said she suspects that a former acquaintance took the jewelry between the months of September and November 2013. A few pieces of jewelry have been recovered through the investigation. The case is ongoing.
Police are investigating a report of a fraudulent transaction processed in Colchester on a credit card that was applied for without the knowledge of the person whose name appears on it. The complaint was filed in Chester on Jan. 9. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chester Resident State Trooper's Office at 860-526-3605.
At 4:38 p.m. on Jan. 10, Robert Galbraith, 49, 29 1/2 Ridge Road, Chester, turned in a 12-gauge shotgun and three boxes of 3-inch ammunition in accordance with a protective order issued by Manchester Superior Court. The items were placed in the Troop F barrack's evidence locker.
Chantell M. Drury, 34, 31 Salt Island Road, Westbrook, was charged with a risk of injury to a child, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault after police responded to a domestic violence incident at a Fordham Road address in Essex on Jan. 9. Drury was taken into custody and later released after posting a $1,000 bond. The accused was due in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 10.
Scott Kryszat, 47, 184 Main St., Ivoryton, was charged with a violation of probation on Jan. 10 after he turned himself in to police at 6:20 a.m. Kryszat was held on a $25,000 bond and was due in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 10.
State police are investigating the passing of five counterfeit $100 bills utsed at the Tanger Outlet Mall, located at Flat Rock Place in Westbrook, on Jan. 11. The counterfeit bills were passed in four separate businesses: Timberland Outlet Store, Carter's, The Children's Place and Uniform Destination. There were two suspects involved that had fled the scene before officers got there. The case is under investigation.
