Remembering East Haven's Joe Buonome

The wake for the Democratic Registrar of Voters and longtime member of the East Haven Police Department will be held this Friday evening.

Remembering East Haven's Joe Buonome

A few days ago East Haven lost one of its most beloved longtime public servants when Democratic Registrar of Voters Joe Buonome passed away Feb. 11 at the age of 73.

Buonome, an East Haven native, served as an officer and sergeant in the East Haven Police Department from 1972-2001, in addition to serving as a selectman in the 1990s and a member of the board of education from 2000-2004.

He was also involved in countless civic and town organizations throughout his adult life.

A wake will be held this Friday at The Porto Funeral Home in Foxon along Route 80 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a mass of Christian burial Saturday morning, beginning at 10 a.m., at Saint Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven.
