Ellington-Somers History: Where is This Building?

Where is this building? What was it used for?

Here's a hint, it is in Somers.

If you think you know the answer, respond in the "Leave a comment" box below this article. We'll run the answer next week, along with a new historical photo.

The image has been provided by the Somers Historical Society.

Last week's question was "Who Were These People?" and there were no guesses. They were the Somersville Mill Band.

According to Images of America: Somers, from the Somers Historical Society:

"The Somersville mill band, as picured in this 1891 Howes Brothers photograph, was made up of workers at the Somersville Manufacturing Company. Seated in the center is Peter Halpin, a spinner by trade. His grandson Robert "Buddy" Halpin of Somers carries on his grandfather's musical tradition as a member of Memories, a big band orchestra."

Editor's note: Buddy Halpin is now deceased. His band does carry on with occasional appearances.
