Ellington-Somers History: Where Was This Building?

Where was this building?

Here's a hint, it was in Ellington and it still stands.

If you think you know the answer, respond in the "Leave a comment" box below this article. We'll run the answer next Tuesday, along with a new historical photo.

The image has been provided by the Ellington Historical Society.

Last week's question was "" and there were a few guesses. It was a school on Somers Road in Ellington. However, it was not the school that became Valley Fish Market - that was the District No. 1 school.

According to Images of America: Ellington, from the Ellington Historical Society:

"District School No. 5 was the Kimball School. The original school was built in 1798 on Somers Road near Maple Street. This one-room schoolhouse, pictured c. 1927, was built in 1891 on Kimball land on the east side of Somers Road. When auctioned off with four other schools in 1949, it sold in ten minutes for $3,600. The successful bidder converted it into a private home."
