Somers Fire Department Responds to Barn Fire

The fire was reported on Tuesday morning on Hampden Road.

At approximately 4:39 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the Somers Fire Department along, with the East Longmeadow ladder truck and Hazardville RIT, were dispatched to Hampden Road for a barn fire.

Car 146 arrived on scene and reported that the barn was mostly on the ground but a brush fire was starting. Two additional tankers were requested.

It was also reported that the fire had spread to a detached garage and a second alarm was requested. The fire was quickly knocked down and extensive overhaul was performed.

There were no reported injuries and the scene was turned over to the Fire Marshal at 6:30 a.m.

In addition to East Longmeadow and Hazardville, the Hampden, West Stafford, Ellington, and Tolland departments also responded. The Ellington Fire Department also provided a cover assignment at Station 46.
