Enfield High School Students Celebrate a Year of Learning and Unity
An end-of-year celebration was held on Wednesday, May 15 at the Boathouse at Riverside Park for the High School Unity Teams program. High School Unity Teams are student-developed teams focused on reducing bias, bullying, and harassment in schools. These teams attended a training facilitated by CREC in November featuring the developer of Unity Teams and author of The Respectful School Stephen Wessler. "My favorite part of being on the Unity Team is helping the students feel better and more united,” shared a Cromwell participant. At least nine high school Unity Teams attended the end of year celebration to share their work this year and to participate in team building and planning for the 2013-2014 school year. Teams from the following schools participated: Cromwell High School, Berlin High School, East Windsor High School, CREC Medical Professions and Teacher Preparation Academy, CREC Public Safety Academy, Rockville High School, Rocky Hill High School, Enfield High School, and Enrico Fermi High School (Enfield). "My favorite part of being on our Unity Team is the adventure of coming to meetings in Hartford and meeting new people,” shared a student from Berlin. The event was facilitated by CREC’s Division of Teaching & Learning on behalf of the Hartford Region Open Choice Program.
