Final Dismissal at Fermi

The last day of classes at Fermi High School culminated a 45-year tenure as Enfield's high school on the east side of town.

ENFIELD, CT - At 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, the final bell rang at Enrico Fermi High School, signifying the end of classes for not only this year, but for good after 45 years at the North Maple Street campus.

Beginning in September, all high school students will attend the newly-reconstructed Enfield High School on Route 5.

The first class to graduate from the Fermi building was in 1972, and this past Saturday, nearly 1,100 alumni representing each graduating class gathered on the hill on the front part of the property for a final group photo.
