$2,000 Worth of Tools Stolen from Bed of Pickup Truck

Fairfield police have received reports of a number of thefts and attempted thefts from vehicles in town over the past few days.

On Tuesday afternoon, a complainant reported that $2,000 worth of tools from the open bed of his pickup truck while it was parked overnight at the Best Western on Black Rock Turnpike.

A Camden Street resident reported on Tuesday that sometime between Sunday evening and 5 p.m., Tuesday, the passenger side window of his car had been smashed. The car was parked in the driveway and nothing of value appeared to be missing. The damage to the window is estimated at $600.

A Burr Street resident reported Tuesday that her purse was stolen from her car while it was parked on the Unquowa Road railroad bridge, police said. The woman told police the car's window had been rolled down slightly. The purse is valued at $180 and contained credit cards and an iPhone ($300). Also missing was the vehicle's registration information, which was taken from the glove compartment.
