Car Fire Friday Near Fairfield School

The vehicle had mechanical issues, which caused a fire in the engine compartment that extended to the rest of the car.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A car caught fire Friday near the campus of Fairfield Warde High School.

The incident occurred 2:10 p.m. at an intersection near the school, according to Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood. The vehicle had mechanical issues, which cause a fire in the engine compartment that extended to the rest of the car, Sherwood said.

The blaze was extinguished and no one was hurt, according to Sherwood.
