Two Trumbull men were arrested after midnight Friday for allegedly trespassing on grounds after being warned not to return, police said.
Jared Koenig, 21, was charged with first-degree criminal trespass; Nicholas Marble, 19, was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana after some of the substance was found on his person, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.
The two -- who are not Fairfield University Students -- were warned earlier in the evening not to return to campus, police said. School security said the two men had not signed in as guests at the front desk, which is school policy.
Marble and Koening told police they had left belongings in a friends dorm and went back to get them, Lussier said.
Both were released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 14.
A Henderson Road resident reported to police on Thursday that someone attempted overnight to steal items from her car, police said.
The vehicle, which was parked in her driveway, was unlocked, according to the police report.
The resident reported that nothing was taken, but the ashtray was moved and the glove box left open, police said.
Both the police and fire departments are looking for a suspect that may have started a fire Thursday on the access road between and Round Hill Road, police said.
A heavyset man with a beard who was wearing a white coat was spotted kicking at the ground where the fire was started, police said.
