Coyotes Spotted on Galloping Hill in Fairfield
A resident reported that a coyote had gotten into a struggle with a small dog in the neighborhood.
"Hello Neighbor-My name is Mike McCarthy, my wife Allison and I live at 1415 Galloping Hill Rd. If you are like me you might not be completely up to speed on neighborhood activity, so I wanted to take this opportunity to pass on some information I thought you should have-
Last night ( Saturday, March 22) I noticed a police cruiser going up and down Galloping Hill around 1030 pm, using a search light to pan both sides of the street- I also noticed the van going up and down Joan and Lyman.
I made an inquiry as to what was going on, and I learned that someone in the neighborhood had called in a report that a coyote had gotten into a struggle with a small dog in this neighborhood. I have a small dog and have seen coyotes on our street look him over as I walk him- perhaps you've seen them as well. there have been several reported coyote incidents in this neighborhood, and on Galloping Hill Rd in particular.
Thus, a word of caution for those of you who have small children or pets to be on the lookout for these harmful animals when outside. Many experts advise to make loud noises when confronted as it usually sends them away.
Here 's hoping there are no further incidents, but I figured you can't be too careful-
All the best
