Good Samaritan, Cop Save Woman From I-95 Car Fire

A quick thinking Bridgeport resident and Conservation Police officer saved the woman before her car was engulfed in flames.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Bridgeport man and a state Conservation Police officer helped save a Norwalk woman's life who had a medical emergency on I-95.

A two-car crash occurred around noon in the area of the Black Rock Turnpike overpass, according to the Fairfield Fire Department Facebook page. One vehicle was on fire with the passenger compartment filling with smoke.

Bridgeport resident Frederico Davis and Police officer Hey removed the semi-conscious driver from the vehicle.

“It was the quick action by the Bridgeport resident and the uniformed Conservation Police Officer working together that definitely saved this woman from the toxic smoke, burn injuries and possibly losing her life”, said Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir. “Luckily, the second vehicle involved in the collision did not have any reported injuries.”

Fairfield Fire units arrived eight minutes after the initial call and quickly extinguished the fire.
