Guerrilla Girls: A Dialogue on Discrimination in Art, Media, and Politics

The Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery is proud to present “Guerrilla Girls: A Dialogue on Discrimination in Art, Media, and Politics” featuring original activist group member “Frida Kahlo.” The Guerrilla Girls are a provocative and influential group of artists who have championed feminism and social change in the art world and beyond for three decades. Join “Frida” on September 23 at 5 p.m. for a fun and fact-filled performance, outlining the group’s creative process and actions, followed by a Q & A with the audience and with exhibition curator Neysa Page-Lieberman. The “Gig” will be held in the Oak Room of the Barone Campus Center at Fairfield University, and is hosted in conjunction with the exhibition “Not Ready to Make Nice: Guerrilla Girls in the Artworld and Beyond,” on view at the Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery in the Quick Center for the Arts from September 4 through November 14, 2014. The Westport Arts Center is a Community Partner for this event, which is also made possible by a grant from the Humanities Institute, College of Arts and Sciences, Fairfield University. This event is free and open to the public, and reservations are not required.
