Obituary: Vincent J. Pavone, 70, of Southbury
Vincent Pavone worked in Danbury, Farmington, Southbury, Oxford and most recently at Evergreen Laser in Durham.
Vince was born March 25, 1944, in Newark, NJ, son of the late Charles and Stella (Capozzi) Pavone. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, and received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He had a long career as a sales and marketing manager, having worked at Union Carbide in New Jersey, Unimation in Danbury, Mott Metallurgical in Farmington, Envax in Southbury, Stoelting Company in Oxford and most recently at Evergreen Laser in Durham until his illness just 5 weeks ago.
He was a brilliant man, a voracious reader and had a life-long love of flying. He was a Certified Flight Instrument Instructor. Vince was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, where he served as an usher and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Besides his beloved wife of 44 years, he leaves his nephew, Michael Blomgren, his wife, Tracey, and son Matthew, of Woodland Park, N.J.; his brother in law, Stephen Hanulec, his wife, Linda, of Woodstown, N.J. and their children, Stephen, Lana and Molly and many close friends and associates.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 5, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury.
Calling hours: Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the daily chapel of the church. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital, 20 York Street, New Haven, CT 06510 (for pancreatic cancer study).
