GHS Drama Club ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Opens This Week

Although Superstorm Sandy pushed the production back a bit, the Glastonbury High School Drama Club’s unique stage version of Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland will go on. The show, Alice in Wonderland, opens Thursday, November 15, and runs through Sunday, November 18, 2012, in the high school auditorium.

The cast of about 30 students is led by freshman Faith Quinn as the eponymous Alice. The unsuspecting girl wanders into a strange world and encounters many unusual characters in her attempts to get back home, including the Cheshire Cat, played by junior Robin Harris, and the Mad Hatter, played by sophomore Tristan Jones.

Director Jeremy Gervais, GHS English teacher, strives for a pop-up book feel to the set. Cast members describe their production as somewhere between the traditional Disney version of the story and the Tim Burton version. It’s a family show, but some of the humor will go over the heads of younger audience members.
