Volunteer Efforts Celebrated
The Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association recently hosted two special events in celebration of National Volunteer Month.

Volunteers for the Granby Food Bank Program, Simsbury Town Associates group, and Community Programs Department gathered for a Volunteer Recognition Breakfast on April 15. Hopsice volunteers met for their customary monthly meeting on April 28 and were treated to a special luncheon.

Our small, non-profit organizaton offers an extensive array of volunteer opportunities. At the Granby Food Bank Program, volunteers accept donations, replenish supplies, and assist participants with their weekly pick-up. A variety of activities are available to Hospice volunteers, who may interact with clients, provide respite to caregivers, and arrange and deliver bereavement baskets. Those who prefer an office setting may help with correspondence, mailings, and facilitation of the Agency's Annual Fund Drive. Our Agency's Professional Advisory Committee and Fundraising Committee area also comprised of volunteers.

Other opportunities are seasonal. Volunteers assist with the registration process at the Flu Shot Clinics we schedule throughout the Greater Farmington Valley region during the autumn months, help with annual Vision and Hearing screenings at area pre-schools, decorate and maintain our "Tree of Life" displays at two Simsbury Bank branch locations, and represent the Agency at Senior Fairs and community events.

We are presently seeking volunteers for the Granby Food Bank Program and Hospice Program, and are interested in speaking with anyone who is familiar with video equipment, or has experience with filming, to assist with taping informational segments for broadcast on Simsbury Community Television.

It doesn't take a lot of time to make a big difference! Please contact us at 860.651.3539 to discuss the ways your skills and talents can enhance the lives of our clients, support others in the community, and promote our charitable mission of providing in-home health services, illness prevention programs, and wellness education to our neighbors throughout the Farmington Valley.
