11-Year-Old Cos Cob Youth Seriously Injured in Bicycle Accident
The youth was riding his bicycle at Montgomery Park in Greenwich.

A male 11 year-old Cos Cob, CT resident suffered a serious head injury in a bicycle accident, Greenwich police said in a press release.
The 11 year-old was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital and as of approximately 3:45 PM was listed as stable but in critical condition and in intensive care, police said.
At approximately 0830 hours, three Cos Cob youths were riding their bicycles within the Montgomery Park and Pinetum which is a 91 acre public park in the Cos Cob section of Greenwich. The victim lost control of his bicycle leaving the trail and fell off his bicycle. The 11 year old male struck his head on a rock and suffered a severe head injury. The youth was not wearing a safety helmet.

One of the other youths dialed 911 from his cell phone and personnel from the Greenwich Police Department and the Greenwich Emergency Medical Service were dispatched. The youth was quickly located within the property, was provided medical assistance, and transported initially to the Stamford Hospital Emergency Room. The youth was later transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
A parent and/or guardian of the three involved youths have been notified; no names of the juveniles will be released.

The accident is currently under investigation by Greenwich Police Departments Traffic Section.
