After Hitting Utility Pole, Driver Is Arrested for DWI

Greenwich Police say the driver failed sobriety tests following the Sunday afternoon crash.

A 54-year-old motorist is facing a driving while intoxicated charge after he crashed his vehicle into a utility pole Sunday evening.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the man was southbound on King Street when he apparently crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a utility pole near Sherwood Avenue at 6:05 p.m. Oct. 26.

Anthony N. Capalbo, who gave an address of 7 Memorial Dr., North Salem NY, was described as having watery, bloodshot eyes and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. He also is accused of having an elevated blood alcohol level when he took a breath test at police headquarters.

Capalbo also was charged with driving in right hand lane. He was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear Nov. 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
