Ash Wednesday Meditative Service

Usher in the season of Lent at First Congregational Church of Greenwich on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18. All are welcome.

The First Congregational Church of Greenwich is opening up its doors to all who would like to usher in the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday with a quiet meditation. On Wednesday, February 18, there will be a Meditation Service and imposition of ashes at 7:00 pm in the church’s historic Meetinghouse. The Meetinghouse will then remain open until 10:00 pm for optional private meditation. No need to be a church member or even Congregational. Just come on by.

The First Congregational Church of Greenwich’s mission is to work for the promotion of justice, peace and human understanding. We are a large congregation located in the center of Old Greenwich and are a part of the United Church of Christ. We firmly believe in Christian commitment and our goal is to extend Christian Outreach spiritually, financially and, when possible, physically through a “hands-on” approach. We declare ourselves to be “open and affirming” – open to all regardless of race, age, physical or mental limitations, gender, sexual orientation, social or economic class, and religious background. All are truly welcome.

The First Congregational Church of Greenwich, the oldest church in Greenwich, is commemorating 350 years in 2015 and kicking off a year-long celebration in May! “Honoring the past, Celebrating the present, Leaning into the future.”
