Burglars Pilfer Power Equipment from a Greenwich Park, Golf Club

In two separate thefts, law maintenance, snow removal equipment worth thousands have been stolen.

Burglars broke into two separate storage sheds at the opposite ends of town and got away with thousands of dollars worth of lawn maintenance and snow removal equipment, according to Greenwich Police.

One theft occurred in northwest Greenwich at the Tamarack Country Club on Locust Road. “The theft of more than a dozen pieces of lawn care equipment including leaf blowers, push mowers and chain saws — value undetermined — were taken from a storage shed” , said police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. Someone forced their way into the shed apparently last weekend. The tools were valued at several thousand dollars, Gray said. The theft was reported shortly after 7 a.m. Oct. 20.

Police also are investigating the theft of two snowblowers from the Parks and Recreation Department shed at Byram Park on the Greenwich waterfront. Thieves cut a lock on the door to the shed to access the blowers valued at “a few hundred dollars,” according to Gray.
