Celebrating Selma Maisel, Founder of Greenwich's Temple Sholom Nursery School
Mrs. Maisel was feted for her 90th birthday by the students of Temple Sholom's nursery school that bears her name.

From Temple Sholom.
Fifty Selma Maisel Nursery Schoolers wiggled about excitedly on the lobby floor of Temple Sholom this past Tuesday, September 23. The children were anticipating their performances for “Bubbe Selma’s” 90th birthday celebration. “Bubbe Selma” or Selma Maisel, the school’s matriarch, was seated in the center of all the smiling, young faces.
Selma Maisel and her late husband Mel, established Selma Maisel Nursery School at Temple Sholom in 1990, the couple has been integral to the local Jewish community and leaders within UJA Greenwich. Selma continues to be a positive force to all who have the pleasure of knowing her and is now an honorary grandmother to roughly 2,000 children - the graduates of Selma Maisel Nursery School.

One by one, each class stood before Selma and performed the songs they worked so hard on during the week. Selma nodded approvingly and was delighted when the children presented her with handmade birthday cards written to, “Bubbe Selma”. The party concluded by singing “Happy Birthday” in both English and Hebrew, cutting the birthday cake and with 50, very happy young children.
