Close Call: Greenwich Man Thwarts Theft in Port Chester

Briefcase containing $2,000 cash almost stolen.

Close Call: Greenwich Man Thwarts Theft in Port Chester

Monday was a Greenwich man's lucky day in Port Chester, NY.

The 49-year-old told police that as his truck was parked on North Main Street shortly before 11:44 a.m., he spotted a man in the cab of the truck. The truck's driver confronted the man in the cab, who was holding a briefcase that was left inside the truck.

The intruder, police said, got out of the truck, handed over the briefcase and walked away. The truck driver went to nearby police headquarters to report the incident.

When the truck driver checked his briefcase, nothing was missing — including the $2,000 cash that was being stored in the briefcase.

No arrest has been made in connection with this incident, police said.
