Cops: Woman Ignored Lights, Siren While Weaving on I-95

Greenwich Police report they arrested a female driver who was seen driving erratically before she entered I-95 where she drove more than a half-mile ignoring police lights and sirens.

According to a police report, the driver caught the attention of a patrolman who reportedly saw the wheels of her Mercedes-Benz C30 straddle the double yellow line on Railroad Avenue and pass a red light to turn onto Arch Street about 11:20 p.m. Jan. 10. The officer followed the driver onto I-95 south, where he observed the vehicle weave from lane to lane, including the breakdown lane, according to the report.

The officer reported the driver ignored his flashing lights for about three-tenths of a mile and then ignored his using both lights and siren for an additional four-tenths of a mile, before pulling over.

The driver, identified as Suela Shabani, 33, of Coolidge Street, Tuckahoe, NY, was described as having extremely glassy, bloodshot eyes, an odor of alcohol, and having failed field sobriety tests.

Shabani was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving right hand lane, failure to drive in proper lane and failure to obey a traffic control signal. She was released after posing $400 bond and was scheduled to appear Jan. 23 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
