Decorating Greenwich for the Holidays
Greenwich Chamber of Commerce will host a decorating seminar in advance of its annual holiday display contest.
The Greenwich Chamber of Commerce has announced its annual holiday decorating contest for town businesses and will be hosting a holiday decorating seminar for tips on how to create eye-popping displays.
The contest is open to all local businesses with a store front and is not limited to chamber members. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their storefronts in the spirit of the holidays and will be eligible to win prizes and special recognition for their efforts.
This year’s windows will be evaluated by four groups of judges and the town will be divided into four areas:

- 1) Central Greenwich (starting from the intersection of North Street and E. Putnam Ave. and ending at the Anthropologie store on W. Putnam Ave.; includes Greenwich Avenue and all side streets),
- 2) Byram, Glenville, Pemberwick areas,
- 3) Cos Cob/Riverside and
- 4) Old Greenwich.
There will be one winner per geographic area judged by this distinction: Best Original or Classic Holiday Storefront. In case of a tie, both organizations will be recognized.
The judging begins on Monday, Dec. 1 and will continue through Friday, Dec. 5. The winners will be announced and honored at the Wednesday, Dec. 10 Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party which will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Bruce Museum. This party, with appetizers provided by Little Pub and wine by Cos Cob Liquors, is open to members and non-members. Raffle prize eligibility for attendees. RSVP is required. Prizes include free advertising on the Chamber’s website, a framed professional photo of the winning storefront and special recognition at the Chamber’s well attended holiday party.
And area businesses can receive holiday decorating tips and ideas at the chamber’s seminar “Learn How To Decorate Your Business for the Holidays” on Wednesday, Nov. 19 that will be held at McArdle’s Florist & Garden Center, 48 Arch St., from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fee: $10.
