An Epic 'Can-Off' for Western Middle School Students
The Greenwich middle-schoolers collect more than 2,000 canned and boxed food donations for Neighbor to Neighbor.
The students at Western Middle School certainly know how to give back to the community.
In the days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, the students organized their annual holiday food drive, with an epic ‘can-off’ challenge.
Western Middle School students banded together to help local residents in need to have a very happy Thanksgiving, and food on their tables for the holidays. They collected more than 2,000 canned and boxed items as well as plenty of fresh food (with a dozen Thanksgiving turkeys thrown in for good measure) to donate to Neighbor to Neighbor (NTN), Greenwich’s food pantry.

The Western Middle school students found helping the community is a rewarding experience — plus, it didn’t hurt to beat their challenger, Central Middle School. Students already are looking forward to planning others ways to give and be involved in community projects.
So with that in mind, in addition to helping NTN during the holiday season, the students will be providing the Food Bank with fresh vegetables from their Community Garden that will be located at the school during the spring and summer months.
