First County Bank Foundation Grants $33,500 to Greenwich Nonprofits

From pre-school to seniors, programs that assist Greenwich residents received the grants.

First County Bank Foundation announced Tuesday that it has awarded seven Greenwich-based nonprofit agencies a total of $33,500 in grants to support the organizations’ work, providing needed services in the community.

“Unfortunately there are so many people and families in this area who are in need. Businesses and individuals should partner to support our community so all members of society can have at least their basic requirements met,” said Karen Kelly, vice president of First County Bank Foundation. “The Foundation is proud to support these worthy charitable organizations which provide essential services to improve the lives of people in the local communities they serve.”

First County Bank Foundation granted Kids in Crisis $10,000 for their Safe Haven for Kids shelter program and Abilis $7,500 for their Abilis Youth Services which supports children with developmental delays or disabilities. The Foundation also granted $5,000 to Greenwich Alliance for Education for their Story Mobile, $3,000 to Jewish Family Services of Greenwich for their Supermarketing for Seniors groceries program, $3,000 for Neighbor to Neighbor for their supplemental food pantry program, $2,500 to the YMCA of Greenwich for their Childcare Snack Program and $2,500 to United Way of Greenwich for various programs in Greenwich.

Since its inception in 2001, the First County Bank Foundation has awarded more than $6 million in individual grants to nonprofits in Stamford, Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk and Westport.
