Grab Some Java At Arch Street

Arch Street, the nation’s longest-running and privately-funded teen center, is going to name its new after school coffee house, The Greenwich Grind.

The grand opening of The Greenwich Grind will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.

The name, submitted by Elyse Crimmins (a student from Stanwich), Caleb Osemobor (a student from Brunswick) and Trinity Holmberg (a student from Western Middle School), received more than 2,000 votes in the “Name Our Coffee House” contest, a month-long contest allowing students to submit potential names for the new coffee house.

The Greenwich Grind was one of 10 finalists, including: The Teen Bean, Archduke Franz Ferdinand Café, Red Brick Café, Town Coffee, Coffee Casa, Lava Java, Grass Island Joe, Overarch Coffee House and The Daily Grind.

“It was exciting to see so many local teens participate in the contest and submit creative names for a space they can really call “home” after school,” Hernan Donoso, associate director of Arch Street, said in a statement. “We look forward to the grand opening of The Greenwich Grind and to celebrating with our contest winners.”

The winners will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the coffee house’s grand opening and receive their own Arch Street “Takeover Party” for up to 100 friends and classmates. The Greenwich Grind will feature café drinks, the “best grilled cheese” in the North East, entertainment (including ping pong, board games and video games), and free Wi-Fi.
