Greenwich Delegation Assigned to Legislative Committees

Connecticut House Republicans announced they have assigned State Representatives Livvy Floren (R-149), Fred Camillo (R-151) and State Representative-Elect Mike Bocchino (R-150) to their legislative committees for the 2015 session. Each will serve on three committees.

The announcement that Floren retained her titled as Assistant Republican Leader was made by House Republican leader Themis Klarides. Klarides assigned Floren to Insurance and Finance, Revenue, and Bonding committees. Floren will serve as Ranking Member on the General Bonding Sub-Committee, the highest appointed position of the Republican Party on the committee.

“I am pleased to continue as an Assistant Leader and to return to Committees with which I have longstanding legislative experience, involving fiscal issues in which I have an abiding interest. Being Ranking Member on Bonding is especially meaningful to me,” Floren said in a statement. “Within reason, I see the function of bonding as ‘paying it forward’ – benefiting future generations with improved infrastructure and mass transportation, better educational opportunities, more jobs, better jobs, and a protected environment – cleaner air, purer water and preserved open space.”

Camillo also received the title of Assistant Republican Leader from Klarides. This will be Camillo’s first term serving in this capacity within the caucus. Camillo was assigned to legislature’s committee on Banks, and Executive and Legislative Nominations. He was designated as Ranking Member on the Commerce Committee.

“I am honored and grateful to receive the title of Asst. Republican Leader, and with the responsibilities that accompany it,” Camillo said. “I am also happy to be returning to my work on the Executive and Legislative Nominations Committee as well as a return to the Commerce Committee as the Ranking House Republican. The new assignment on the Banks Committee will be a welcome role as I spent several years in the banking industry. I eagerly await the new session and my new leadership role within the House Republican Caucus.”

Bocchino will begin his first two-year term with the delegation when the 2015 legislative session begins on Jan. 7. He will serve on the legislature’s committees on Energy and Technology, Higher Education and Employment Advancement, and Children.

“I look forward to working on my assigned committees as well as working closely with the rest of the delegation to bring common sense solutions to Hartford,” Bocchino said. “I am particularly excited about bringing my experience from serving on the PTA to the Children’s and the Higher Education and Employment Advancement committees. I plan to continue to be a staunch advocate for education in Hartford as I was locally in Greenwich.”
