Greenwich High School Ranked as One of the Top Schools in the Nation
Newsweek Magazine ranks Greenwich in its Top 500 Public High Schools in America list.

Newsweek ranked Greenwich High as No. 168 in its Top 500 Public High Schools in America list. Greenwich was one of only 13 state schools to make the rankings.
Greenwich Schools Superintendent William McKersie said, “The Greenwich High School community works hard at delivering an excellent education. The change in the rankings is an affirmation of that hard work.”
McKersie added, “In considering the rankings, however, we must be careful to note that the data is from 2011-12, and does not reflect the most recent improvement efforts. Also, the magazine’s methodology has changed significantly, as have the schools participating, impacting the outcomes. While rankings are important to consider, there are many more measures that we follow to determine how well our schools are doing.”

The rankings were devised by initially identifying schools that performed above the 80th percentile on standardized testing within each state. Those schools were then evaluated considering criteria such as Advanced Placement enrollment, Scholastic Aptitude Test performance, and graduation rates. The ultimate ratings were based on a factor Newsweek identified as College Readiness Score.
