Greenwich Man Is Held on Assault Charge

The arrest stems from a dispute during which the victim was assaulted.

A 22-year-old Greenwich man is being held on assault and disorderly conduct charges following a dispute with a family member during which a person over 60 was assaulted.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the Oct. 15 incident took place in an apartment in the 200 block of Mill Street in the Byram neighborhood of town. Several officers responded to a report of a person screaming about 11:27 a.m.

An investigation revealed that Sultan M. Sheikh, of 251 Mill St., assaulted a family member of the age of 60 during an argument, according to the report. In addition to the disorderly conduct charge, Sheikh was charged with assault on a person over 60 years of age.

He was arraigned in state Superior Court in Stamford on Oct. 16 and remains in custody in lieu of $500 bond, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. He’s scheduled to return to court Nov. 25.
