Greenwich Police Hire 2 New Officers
The rookies will be sworn in at a Town Hall ceremony Wednesday morning.

The Greenwich Police Department has hired two new officers who will be sworn in at a Town Hall ceremony Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The new officers are Shane T. Geary of Norwalk, and Matthew T. Swift of Old Greenwich. The officers will fill vacancies created by the recent retirements of Det. Kent Reynolds and Officer William Romanello

Geary, a graduate of Brien McMahon High School, earned his associate’s degree in criminal justice from Norwalk Community College in 2005 where he received the Student Leader Award from the Criminal Justice Club. He previously worked as operations manager of Connecticut for Integrated Security Services.
Geary holds boating and scuba diving certificates and firearms, motorcycle and security and investigator licenses.

For Swift, joining the GPD ranks is following a family tradition. Swift, who is pursuing a criminal justice degree at Norwalk Community College, worked for 13 years at the Round Hill Service Station where he performed minor auto repairs and towing.
Swift, who holds a Connecticut Boating Safety Certificate, is the brother of Greenwich Police Officer David Swift.
The swearing-In will be held in the Town Hall Meeting Room at 11a.m. Wednesday.
Both officers will be required to complete an 18-month probationary period.
