Greenwich Planning and Zoning Extends Moratorium on Marijuana Dispensaries

The moratorium, which was placed into effect last year has been extended for another year.

The Greenwich Planning and Zoning Commission agreed this week to extend its moratorium for another year on applications for marijuana related businesses, Greenwich Time reports.

Town Planner Katie DeLuca said the town is trying to gather information on the experience of other communities where dispensaries have opened, however not much information has been available, the publication reports. A marijuana dispensary in Greenwich could fit into the town’s business and office-business zones while production facilities would have to be in an industrial zone, which does not currently exist in Greenwich.

The moratorium was initially placed into effect last year.
