Greenwich Special Projects Manager Dustin Anderson Headed to Indiana

Anderson has been hired as the town manager of Munster, IN.

The lakeside community of Munster, IN has come to Greenwich to hire its new town manager.

Dustin Anderson, Greenwich’s special projects manager who reports to First Selectman Peter Tesei, has tendered his resignation. He will be leaving his Greenwich Town Hall office on Oct. 10 so that he and his family can move to Munster, where he will begin working as town manager on Oct. 13.

“It’s been a real privilege serving the Town of Greenwich,” Anderson said Tuesday. “I have learned so much from the people here. I’m not running from Greenwich. I’m running to a new opportunity,” said Anderson who joined the first selectman’s staff in January 2010.

In returning to his home state, the 34-year-old Anderson will oversee the operations of the town of 24,000 that sits on the Indiana-Illinois border, about 24 miles from Chicago. All Munster town department heads, except for emergency services, will report to him. The five-member Munster Town Council offered him the job on Sept. 25, according to the Munster Times.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for him,” Tesei said. “He has developed himself into a very effective municipal manager. He has the opportunity to return home to Indiana. He will be very deeply missed — I certainly have enjoyed working with him. He’s conscientious, detail-oriented, pleasant to work with.”

Anderson played a key role in helping the town receiving nearly $8 million in reimbursements from the Federal Emergency Management Administration for storm-related damage caused by several natural disasters including Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy, Tesei said. He’s also credited with the development of a soon-to-be implemented online town-wide customer service center that will enable residents to file complaints and requests for service that will automatically be linked to the responsible department, Tesei said.

With Anderson’s pending departure, his job will be recategorized with a title of senior management analyst which corresponds more directly to the managerial, budgetary and governmental responsibiities of the post, Tesei said. The salary range starts at nearly $86,000, Tesei said. Job candidates can find details of the post here. The application deadline is Oct. 17.
