Greenwich State Reps. Bocchino, Camillo Attend Family Action Day

The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Caucus is addressing shortfalls in the safety net for families, people with disabilities.

State Representatives Mike Bocchino (R-150) and Fred Camillo (R-151) attended the legislature’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Caucus’s Family Action day earlier this month.

Bocchino and Camillo heard testimony from individuals, families and organization directors advocating for state government to make Connecticut a healthier place to live.

The purpose of the I/DD Caucus is to address shortfalls in the safety net. The bipartisan group of some 50 lawmakers are hoping to find ways to streamline government while still providing services for the I/DD community.

Advocates are calling for maintained program spending and a reflection of more supportive legal language – whether that means a change in law or new proposals.

Group housing and residential services remain the top two concerns for I/DD advocates. Lawmakers hope to find new, innovative ways to address current programming.
