Greenwich United Way Legislative Breakfast Set for Dec. 19

The annual breakfast is open to residents and local agencies to discuss priorities with Greenwich elected officials.

The Greenwich United Way Community Planning Council’s Legislative Breakfast will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 in the Greenwich Town Hall Meeting Room.

The annual event takes place from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. and is open to residents, local organizations and service agencies, town government employees, and other community leaders involved in local health and human services.

Greenwich United Way veteran Legislative Breakfast moderator Brook Urban will welcome the panelists: State Representatives Alfred Camillo and Livvy Floren, newly-elected Representative Mike Bocchino, State Sen. Scott Frantz, and Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei.

The annual forum provides an opportunity for sharing information, discussion and an overview of priorities and collaborative efforts.

Legislators will be asked about such topics as attracting and retaining businesses in Connecticut, the Board of Education’s new plan to strengthen and increase the use of magnet schools, the need for more reliable, safe and accessible public transportation, and the recent ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) report from the United Ways of Connecticut that highlights the financial hardships facing 25 percent of working families in the state.
