Greenwich's Temple Sholom Hosts "Through the Lens" Photography Exhibit
"Through the Lens" photographs were taken by participants in Taglit-Birthright Israel Foundation Free Trip to Israel Program.

‘Through the Lens,’ an exhibit which features 36 photographs taken by participants in Taglit-Birthright Israel program, is on display beginning Friday, Sept. 19 until Oct. 5, Temple Sholom in Greenwich.
The display is part of Temple Sholom’s effort to showcase exciting Jewish artists, authors and speakers in events that are free and open to the community.
The featured photographers participated in an educational program offered by the not-for-profit, Taglit-Birthright Israel Foundation which provides a trip to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26 from around the world. The ten day journey focuses on three main areas: the Narratives of the Jewish People, Contemporary Israel, and the Formative Values of Judaism. Participants interact with Israelis of the same age and explore their views about personal, religious, and political identities and ideologies.

The exclusive photographs were selected from over 3,000 entries from 64 countries and were judged by well-noted, international photographers. “The photographs stand to educate about the myriad of ways that trip participants of various backgrounds can find meaningful connections in Israel and beyond. As participants, the alumni are simultaneously tourists yet brethren. This obscures the idea of home and identity.” (www.birthrightisrael.us)
“Through the Lens” is on display through Oct. 5, at Temple Sholom can be viewed Monday through Friday except Tuesdays from 12 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
