Halloween Happenings: Two Weeks of Events in Greenwich
BOO! Whether you're a child or a 'seasoned' citizen, there are plenty of Halloween-themed activities planned in town.

Looking to channel your inner Halloween ghoul for yourself or your family?
Well, there are plenty of events planned in Greenwich — starting this weekend and continuing through Halloween, Oct. 31. Regardless of age, from toddlers to seniors, there’s a cornucopia of activities. Enjoy and have a ‘boo-tiful’ Halloween!

All are invited to Old Greenwich School’s Pumpkin Patch. The annual fall festival features a haunted house, hay maze, arts and crafts, bouncy slides, games, food, prizes and more. Admission is free. This large community-building event has been a tradition in Old Greenwich for more than 40 years. Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Old Greenwich School, 285 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich.

The 2014 Halloween Happenings featuring games, Halloween-themed music, candy and refreshments, sponsored by the Greenwich Recreation & Parks Department, will be held at the Western Greenwich Civic Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Kids can come in costume — as long as they’re accompanied by an adult. Bring a pumpkin to decorate at the decoration table. Advance reservations only (NO tickets will be sold at the door). Tickets: $10 a person and may only be purchased in advance at the Recreation Office, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center, 7 days per week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Oct. 25:
At Audubon Greenwich: an ‘Enchanted Orchard’ & Live Animal Show Saturday, from 6 to 9 p.m. A fun Halloween-themed evening for the whole family. Meet kid-friendly, costumed animal characters on a tour of the ‘Enchanted Orchard’. After the tour, enjoy dinner, treats and a live animal show, too. Costumes welcome but not required! Carve a Pumpkin at Greenwich Library: Students in grades six and up are invited to a pumpkin carving party in the Meeting Room. Carve a classic jack-o-lantern or create your own design. Oct. 26:
The seventh annual “Howl & Prowl”Halloween pet costume party in Greenwich that attracts hundreds of owners and their dogs who come together for an afternoon of fun to benefit pets in need is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. Expect to see dogs in novelty outfits on parade at Greenwich Common Park, 290 Greenwich Ave. All proceeds from the “Howl & Prowl” Costume Party in the Park go to the Adopt-A-Dog animal rescue organization. There will be a pet costume contest that awards $600 in prizes consisting of various Pet Pantry Warehouse gift certificates to the winners, free refreshments, free photos with well known pet photographer Geoffrey Tischman and free caricatures by noted local artist Bill Hernandez. Oct. 27:
The Round Hill Association is hosting a Family Halloween Costume Party at the Round Hill Community House, 397 Round Hill Rd. from 4 to 6 p.m. Designed for kids up to 8-years-old, there will be a costume parade, cookie and face decorating, and entertainment by Graham Clark. Cost: $15 per family when you pay online at the Round Hill Association website: www.roundhillassn.org or $20 per family at the door.
Oct. 29:
Head to the Greenwich Library at 10:30 a.m. for the Spooky Silly Sing-Along with Nappy’s Puppets with Nappy (Jim Napolitano) returns to Greenwich with his rollicking Halloween sing-along for ages two and up. Wear a costume and join the fun. No reservations or tickets needed but space is limited. For more information, call (203) 622-7940.
Oct. 31:
(This is their wording — not ours!) The Ghastly Greenwich Senior Center presents ‘A Horrible Halloween Party’ on Freaky Friday, Oct. 31 from noon to 3 p.m. Live, eerie entertainment with Tony Castle & Patsy Shore. A deplorable dinner, repulsive raffle basket, and the best part...Dirty Dancing. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. And for those needing it, Transylvania TAG transportation will be available. Tickets are $14 a person. Call the Greenwich Senior Center: 203-862-6700.
