It's Official, Abrams Is Off the Greenwich Ballot

Beleaguered by accusations contained in a sexual harassment lawsuit, the Greenwich Democrat's name has been taken off the ballot.

A week after Democrat Marc Abrams dropped his bid to unseat seven-term Republican Livvy Floren, Abrams’ name is officially off the ballot.

On Oct. 17, Abrams notified the Connecticut Secretary of State that he shut down his campaign — a week after he announced he was suspending the campaign. Abrams also sent official notification of his withdrawal to Greenwich Town Clerk Carmella Budkins, the Greenwich League of Women Voters and Greenwich Democratic Town Committee Chair Frank Farricker, according to CtPost.com.

Abrams decision is fallout from revelations earlier this month that Abrams had been named in a sexual harassment case in 2010 and there are still civil claims unresolved in the New York State court system in which two former female employees accused Abrams and his brother of sexual advances and abusive and threatening behavior. Reportedly several high-level Connecticut Democrats, including Gov. Dannel Malloy, pressured Abrams to drop his campaign bid.
