Letter: Bocchino 'Knows the Issues; Loves the Town'
Republican Mike Bocchino is seeking the 150th District state Assembly seat.

To the Editor:
Watching the debates for the 150th State Representative District where Republican Mike Bocchino faces Democrat Jill Oberlander, I’ve been very impressed with Bocchino.
Repeatedly Bocchino insisted Connecticut’s economy must be improved for all businesses by reducing state regulation and a more favorable tax code.

Listening to Oberlander, I realized she’ll be in lock step with the same Hartford Democrats who, with years of supermajorities, have done enormous damage to Connecticut’s economy. Oberlander didn’t mention the economy when asked, at the start of the Channel 12 debate, what are the most important issues. She says Connecticut and Governor Malloy “are doing a great job”. Really?
Bocchino touts his business experience and extensive community involvement with in-depth knowledge of how Greenwich operates. Oberlander, a long time New York resident, says her stint at the MTA and being a New York lawyer are her best qualifications. Excuse me — the MTA? Probably the worst run organization other than the state of Connecticut.

Public education is critical. With children in Greenwich’s public schools, Bocchino knows those issues only as someone does who’s involved with public education daily and will be able to address them In Hartford day one.
As an RTM member, I was disconcerted by Oberlander’s stand against the Mianus River Boat Club’s lease. Oberlander and her group issued demands to First Selectman Peter Tesei over Greenwich’s lease policy. Tesei wouldn’t cave to their demands, so Oberlander pushed the RTM to hold the boat club lease hostage.
Mianus River Boat Club members had the vision, sweat and hard work to create a beautiful marina, out of nothing, for summer enjoyment. While Oberlander was summering at her $5 million Hampton’s home, rubbing elbows with the liberal Democrat glitterati, boat club members fixed docks and painted their clubhouse wondering if the town would yank their lease. Oberlander singling them out was inexplicable demonstrating she’s out of touch with our community.
Greenwich deserves the best representation possible in Hartford so cast your vote for Mike Bocchino in the 150th. He knows the issues; he loves the town; he cares about you.
Edward D. Dadakis, RTM District 1
