Letter: 'Give Where You Live' for Annual Fairfield County Community Foundation Giving Day
Hundreds of nonprofits including dozens in Greenwich are participating in the upcoming fund-raising event.

To the Editor,
March 5th is Fairfield County’s second annual Giving Day. The goal is to raise $1 million in 24 hours through online donations for 300 local nonprofit organizations.
Initiated last year by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, Giving Day encourages individuals, families, companies, clubs and groups to “give where you live.” Bank of America is the lead sponsor. Last year, more than 9,000 people donated over $750,000 to 267 nonprofits serving Fairfield County—in 24 hours!

As the board chair of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation and a resident of Greenwich, I encourage everyone age 18 and over to visit FCGives.org during the day on March 5th. The site allows donations to any of the registered nonprofits—including the organizations in our community.
You can donate as little as $10. Each donation adds up; also, the nonprofits have a chance to win over $20,000 in additional cash prizes.

Please remember to visit FCGives.org on March 5th and give to your favorite local nonprofits. It’s an important way to make a difference right here in Fairfield County.
