Penguin Awareness Day in Greenwich

The Bruce Museum is hosting a science lecture on the flightless bird on Penguin Day.

Yes, there is an entire day dedicated to the penguin, the quirky, flightless bird found throughout the Southern Hemisphere.

To celebrate, the Bruce Museum will present a science lecture and a demonstration of the 3D printing of their own Black-footed Penguin specimen on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Dr. Daniel Ksepka, curator of science and a world-renowned penguin expert, will discuss penguin evolution and the 60-million-year March of the Fossil Penguins. Following Ksepka’s lecture, MakerBot of Greenwich will discuss their scanning and 3D printing technology. The actual penguin and a life-size 3D-printed replica will be on view, and live 3D printing will be happening on site.
