Police Investigate 3 Greenwich Home Burglaries
One resident found a man inside her home when she investigated the sound of her unlocked back door opening.

Three Greenwich residences were burglarized during the daytime on Friday — including one where the resident was at home, scaring off the suspect.
According to Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, “On Sept. 12 there were residential burglaries in central Greenwich and on the western end of town — Putnam Park, Steamboat Road and Fletcher Avenue.”
Someone entered a Putnam Park coop on Milbank Avenue through an unlocked first-floor window and stole jewelry and silver coins worth several thousand dollars, according to Gray.

On Steamboat Road, entry was made through an unlocked first-floor window while the resident “was gone for a brief period of time running local errands,” Gray said. “Nothing was removed but personal items were staged to be removed. It is possible the suspect was interrupted when the resident returned,” Gray added.
About noon Sept. 12, a Fletcher Avenue woman “was home alone. She heard the door open and realized there was somebody inside her house. The subject realized someone was in the house and fled,” Gray said. The man was described as a thin white man about five-foot-eight who was wearing a plain white T-shirt and a backwards red baseball cap. The apparent thief didn’t have time to take anything.

Gray advised residents to “lock your doors. Lock your windows and use your alarms if you have them. Residents should report any suspicious persons to the rear of their property or that of their neighbors.”
