Projected Snow Totals for Greenwich Now in for Saturday Storm
The National Weather Service says this amount of snow may fall on Greenwich.
The National Weather Service says up to 4 inches of snow may fall on Greenwich overnight Friday and on Saturday.
Here’s the daytime Saturday prediction from the weather service, specifically for Greenwich (as of 5:06 p.m. Thursday):
“Snow likely, mainly after 3 a.m. (Saturday). Increasing clouds, with a low around 27. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet. High near 34. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Northeast wind 5 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.”

The weather service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Connecticut, Long Island, parts of New Jersey and other places. The latest version of the statement, issued at 4:22 p.m. Thursday, states in part:
“A rapidly deepening coastal low will emerge from the eastern Gulf of Mexico Friday night and then track northeast along the Eastern Seaboard on Saturday, passing south and east of Long Island Saturday evening. This will be a fast moving system with the potential for significant snow and ice. There is some uncertainty with the precipitation type due to the storm track.”

(The “uncertainty with the precipitation type” means the forecasters are not sure where rain will fall instead of snow.)
