Sen. Murphy Tours Greenwich Nonprofits That Help Children

The Boys and Girls Club, Family Centers and Kids in Crisis were on the senator's itinerary.

Greenwich nonprofit organizations that provide resources and services to local families were on Sen. Chris Murphy’s agenda Thursday.

The first-term senator toured three Greenwich agencies Thursday afternoon, meeting with staff and board members, as well as children and their families to learn about each agency’s role in the community and how the federal government can provide more assistance.

The tour began with a visit to the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich. Then it was on to Family Centers on Arch Street, and then the state’s only children’s shelter — Kids in Crisis in Cos Cob. It was at Kids in Crisis where Murphy got a first-hand look at a new program instituted by the Greenwich-based Needs Clearing House (NCH).
