Splurge Matches Scarf Donations for Cancer Patients at Greenwich Hospital

For the fourth consecutive year, Splurge Unique Gifts, Home Décor, and Jewelry is partnering with Smilow Cancer Hospital’s Greenwich Hospital Campus to donate scarves to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

Now through Oct. 31 Splurge will donate a beautiful pashmina scarf to a chemotherapy patient with every $150 purchase. Splurge customers are invited to hand-write an encouraging note to the patient receiving the scarf. In the event that a customer would like to donate a scarf without meeting the minimum purchase, scarves are available for sale at a discounted price of only $20 each. At the end of the month Splurge will match the final quantity of donated scarves and double the gift to Greenwich Hospital.

Splurge owner Sonia Sotire Malloy said in a statement, “I am proud to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month as I believe we need to increase awareness of this disease that touches so many people’s lives. Over the past three years Splurge and our loyal clients have donated scarves to over 200 Smilow’s Greenwich Hospital Campus chemotherapy patients. We hope to bring comfort and encouragement to the patients going through treatment with these scarves and their accompanying notes.”

Maria Marini, Program Director of Oncology Services at Smilow Cancer Hospital’s Greenwich Hospital Campus added, “Greenwich Hospital is honored to be the recipient of these lovely pashminas which are distributed to cancer patients. For the fourth year in a row we are able to hand out these beautifully tailored scarves to very grateful patients. Splurge has allowed our female patients to be the recipients of a very generous gesture during a very stressful time in their lives.”

Tying in nicely with Splurge’s pashmina event, proceeds from VENEZIA, this year’s Gala for Greenwich Hospital, will benefit the hospital’s oncology services. VENEZIA will be held on Oct. 25 at Greenwich Country Club.

Splurge is at 39 Lewis St. in Greenwich and is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
