Combining her two passions, cats and writing, in her Tori Trotter series, Barbara says, “Tori Trotter is based on our cat, Tori, a small fluffy black cat we got from a shelter in New York…Since Tori trotted around, holding her fluffy tail high, ‘Tori Trotter’ came to me as the name for her detective persona. Her sidekick, Scout, came from the name of a friend’s cat, taken from the main character in To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Barbara, an Old Greenwich resident, was a teacher and school librarian for 28 years. In addition to being the author and illustrator of the Tori Trotter series, she has also written 3 young adult novels, A Deeper Season, You Never Lose and The Truth of the Matter, as well as 2 non-fiction books, The BLR Handbook of Practical Time Management Techniques and The Heart of the Music.
